Aluminum is a durable metal that will not rust but does require occasionally cleaning to ensure the longest life of the powder coat finish. Anything left out in the weather will change over time. Maintaining the good looks of your powder coated planters is just like caring for your car – and is a smart way to protect your investment. Over time, with exposure to the elements, powder coatings may show signs of weathering such as loss of gloss, chalking and slight color change. A simple regular cleaning will minimize the effects of weathering and will remove dirt, grime and other build-up detrimental to all powder coatings. Use water and a mild soap with a soft brush or sponge to clean your planters. Strong solvents, abrasive cleaners, hard pads and brushes can cause film damage and discoloration. Be sure to rinse your planter thoroughly after cleaning.
