Why purchase our cedar planters?
When designing our planters, we looked over the construction of competitive products and found that most last about a year or two before they start falling apart. During our design process, we identified those failure points and took the high-end construction technique and fastening materials approach to offer a superior product that is simple to assemble.
For example, many "bottoms" of the planters would become loose and fall out.
Reason? They use galvanized fasteners (staples, nails, screws, etc) the zinc in galvanized nails reacts chemically with cedar and redwood, causing the failure.
Our solution
We use structural grade adhesive to bond the wood, then secure with special polymer coated screws designed for use with Cedar.
Another common problem was the legs became wobbly , similar cause, screws and the soft cedar wood don't mix. They loosen rather quickly and fall apart.
Our solution
We use a "sliding dove-tail joint" a wood to wood connection used in furniture making. This also makes it very easy assembly. Just slide the parts together. For a permanent solution, the dove tail joints should be glued during assembly.
