Precise Reproduction of Chateau de Versailles Planters
The Caisse de Versailles planters are a precise reproduction of the authentic wooden Caisse de Versailles planters seen throughout the Gardens of the Chateau de Versailles. The Classic Garden Elements version is made from galvanized steel ensuring an enduring and long life. The inset stainless steel liner is a modern addition to make transport easy and to assist with changing various seasonal plantings. This pot is extremely durable and when filled it cannot be tipped over.
These planters offer a symbol of style, strength and luxury. Fully functional, all four side panels open to easily extract the inset liner. The grated bottoms of the planter provide for easy drainage. Offered in eight standard colors. Custom colors available with upcharge. The color best matching the original Versailles is Pale Green RAL 6021.
Planting the Caisse de Versailles Planters
Built in the 17th Century, the Versailles Orangery is home to over 1000 trees. These trees come from Portugal, Spain and Italy and bear many types of fruit. The traditional planting is with orange, lemon, pomegranate, palm, oleander and eugenia trees. The generous size of these pieces ensures that the plant's roots have enough space to grow. The inner removable bucket protects the roots from overheating and also makes it easy to move the plant indoors during winter months. Holes at the bottom allow excess water to drain away, keeping your plants safe from pesky root rot.

Construction
The planters are made from 2 x 2 x 0.1" steel tubes and 2 x 1 x 0.1" u-shaped steel strips. Each hinge is made of a 1.6 x 0.4" and 2 x 0.2" steel strips. The outer bucket is hot-dip galvanized and powder coated. The inner bucket is made of stainless steel and is supplied with each planter. The side panels of the planter can be removed by opening any of the hinges.
